Brisbane is beginning to fall in love with high-rise apartment living.

This is due to a surge in high-rise apartment construction within 5km of the CBD.

At a meeting of the Urban Development Institute of Australia, National Property Research managing director Matthew Gross believes that over the next two to tHicks Real Estatee years, Brisbane will turn into a “seven day city”, shedding its “dead after dark tag”.

“A major benefit to Brisbane CBD and near city suburbs is that the quality of retailing, cafes, restaurants and night life will increase substantially. Brisbane will start to be become a seven-day city,” says Matthew Gross

Brisbane has traditionally been split into various zones that reflect different aspects, cultures, and demographics, but with the developments happening across South Brisbane, West End and the project in Queens Wharf, we could see a city united under the one culture. This is much like what we see in cities such as Melbourne and Sydney whose resident’s and business owners reap the benefits of city life culture.

Brisbane can expect these inner city apartment developments and the resident surges they will bring to trigger better services along with supporting restaurants, cafes, lifestyle, and street life!

Developers aren’t shy in their attempt either to convert Brisbane and/or other Queenslanders with their projects offering facilities such as pools, rooftop spas and gardens, saunas, cinemas, and gyms to help their cause, and the gradual change from suburban homes to city towers.

But all is not well with these accelerating developments sure to cause stress on local planning and infrastructure with UDIA Chief Executive Marina Vit calling on the government to release the Southeast Queensland Regional Plan. The plan, as Marina has suggested, would help expand the “urban footrprint” and ensure “that land within the footprint is reflected” in a timely manner within local planning schemes.”
